Christmas Markets
Nottingham has Christmas markets aplenty for the 2018 Christmas season, including the biggest across the whole of the East Midlands - Winter Wonderland. Taking place in the Old Market Square from Thursday 15th November, Winter Wonderland boasts stalls, a real ice rink, children’s rides and even the UK’s largest ice bar! Purchase some beautifully made yuletide gifts, sample some traditional festive treats or simply enjoy a cup of warming mulled wine as Christmas music plays in the background. There’s something for everyone at Winter Wonderland!
If crafts and handmade wares are your forte, make sure to drop by either the Welbeck Winter Festival at The Welbeck Estate or Winterfest, taking place at Thoresby Park. Both Christmas festivals take place over the weekend of 24th – 25th November, although Welbeck opens on the 23rd from 10am and features plenty of fantastic handmade gifts and goods to choose from, including showcases from lots of talented local artists.
Christmas Shopping
Made your way around the markets and want to get in some more Christmas shopping? Nottingham city centre has plentiful boutiques and big brands alike to choose from. Explore the two main Intu shopping centres, wander the independent shops of the Lace Market, West End Arcade, Cobden Chambers and Hockley or pick up some prestigious labels from Flying Horse Walk, Bridlesmith Gate and The Exchange. The city of Nottingham is well known for being a shopper’s paradise and if you're lucky, you may even get all of your Christmas shopping done in one day!
Live Music
Grab your cringiest Christmas jumper, do a quick vocal warm-up and head off to The Southbank Bar City this Christmas Eve for an all-day sing-along event from 1pm to 7pm. There will be live music and merry spirits all around as revellers from the city and beyond gather to sing out Christmas Eve in style, with music from Urban Intro, Just Ben and other DJs through the day.
